Heidi Broussard, the 33-year-old mother from Austin in Texas whose body was found stuffed in the trunk of a car parked at her childhood friend Fieramusca's home in Houston on Thursday night, reportedly died of ligature strangulation.
The baby found alive inside the home is believed to be Heidi's daughter Margot Carey, but her best friend Magen Fieramusca is claiming the infant is hers. Officials are reportedly waiting for official confirmation of the baby's identity through DNA testing.
Magen Rose Fieramusca whose neighbors and her former attorney backed her claim of being pregnant recently, was arrested after Harris County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the cause of Broussard's death was ligature strangulation.
The suspect who was arrested after a tip led police to the Jersey Village Property where Broussard's body was found in the trunk of a car registered in her name, met the deceased at church camp when they were just 11 years old.
Broussard was last seen dropping off another child at Cowan Elementary School in Austin with the baby in tow. Detectives believe they then returned home. When the baby's father, Shane Carey came home to the apartment around 2 p.m, he said nothing seemed out of place and Broussard's car was still parked outside, but mother and child were missing.
Though Fieramusca has not been charged with murder, it was learnt that she was arrested on two count charge of kidnapping and one count of tampering with a corpse. She was moved from Harris County Jail in an Austin Police Department vehicle around 6.30pm on Friday December 20. A second person is reportedly in custody but has not yet been named.
Law enforcement officials who accused Fieramusca of pretending to be pregnant at the same time as Broussard, setting a fake due date for December 1 and having a Target baby registry with a man named Christopher Green (her landlord), revealed that her bond was set at $600,000.
