Osinbajo Vs Timi Frank: Nigeria's Vice President Caught In N90-Billion Controversy

Image result for osinbajo

igeria's embattled Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, vows he will waive
his constitutional immunity to clear his name over the N90 billion he
allegedly received from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for
the funding of the 2019 elections.

The vice president, through his verified twitter handle,
@ProfOsinbajo, said, “In the past few days, a spate of reckless and
malicious falsehoods have been peddled in the media against me by a
group of malicious individuals.

“The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique had
mostly been making the social media rounds anonymously.

“I have today instructed the commencement of legal action against two
individuals, one Timi Frank and another Katch Ononuju, who have put
their names to these odious falsehoods.

“I will waive my constitutional immunity to enable the most robust
adjudication of these claims of libel and malicious falsehood."

A former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, had on Monday claimed the travails
of Osinbajo were due to an alleged N90-billion scandal, and that
recent developments involving him had nothing to do with 2023
politics.

Frank urged Osinbajo to sue him instead of threatening media houses
over his latest revelation, saying he was waiting to receive a court
summons.

He also asked Osinbajo to resign as the vice president to give room
for a thorough investigation and unbiased prosecution in court,
saying,

“This is important so as not to influence the judiciary as well as use
public funds to pursue the case as a sitting vice president,” Frank
stated.

ABSCONDMENT FROM SERVICE

ABSCONDMENT FROM SERVICE

The National Youth Service Corps Management has observed with concern that some eligible Nigerian graduates who were duly mobilized and deployed for National Service have willfully refused, neglected and failed to serve continuously for a period of one year as specified in the Call-Up instrument, pursuant to the provisions of Section 2(1) of the National Youth Service Corps Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

It is a criminal offence punishable under the provisions of Section 13(1) (b) of the NYSC Act as follows:

“Any person:-

(b) who refuses to make himself available for service in the service corps continuously for the period specified in subsection (2) of this section,

is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of N2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of 12 months or to both such fine and imprisonment.”

However, Management has considered giving a second chance to all the defaulters.

Therefore, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all those that were mobilized for National Service during the 2019 Batches ‘A’ and ‘B’ service year or any preceding service year but failed to complete service, to make themselves available for the 2019 Batch ‘C’ service year. When the NYSC portal opens for remobilization after the 2019 Batch ‘C’ orientation course, they are to click on the registration link and select REMOBILISATION option.

For the avoidance of doubt, Management of the NYSC has put every necessary machinery in place to track and prosecute any person who has been remobilized as a result of the decision of the Disciplinary Committee but failed to report for National Service.

Image result for nysc

It is important that all students confirm their name/status from the JAMB Matriculation List online. Only candidates/students whose names are on this list are recognized as bonafide students from the various accredited institutions.
By implication, any graduating student whose name is not on the JAMB Matriculation List would have his/her application to NYSC scheme for the one-year National service declined. This information can be harnessed on JAMB Matriculation Portal via this link https://jamb.org.ng/efacility/checkmatriculationlist

In view of the above information, I hereby request all graduating students to immediately proceed to confirm their status on JAMB matriculation list portal. Please note once again that students whose status are not confirmed on JAMB Matriculation List would be automatically rejected by the National Youth Service mobilization template.

Lagos state police to arraign singer, Dammy Krane in court on Monday September 16th

Dammy Krane will on Monday September 16th, be arraigned before the Igbosere High Court in Lagos by the Lagos state police command.

Punch reports that DammyKrane will be arraigned on a three-count charge bothering on threat to life, defamation and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

According to a petition filed at the command's headquarters, the singer was accused of threatening the lives of staff members of betting company Merrybet Gold Limited on July 25th 2019 and also released a song in which he accused the firm of breach of contract. The act is said to be in contravention of sections 301, 412 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

He was also accused of conspiring with others at large of conducting himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace and threat to life in contravention of Section 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015. Dammy Krane was also said to have threatened public peace when he posted an audio and video message on radio in contravention of Section 168(d) of the state’s criminal law.

The charges read in part,

“That you, Johnson Hunga Oyindamola and others at large on the 29th day of July, 2019 at Cool FM in the Lagos magisterial district did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: conduct likely to cause breach of peace and threat to life and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
Another charge reads

“That you, Johnson Hunga Oyindamola and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did threaten the life of the staff of Merrybet Gold Limited and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 301 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

Section 301 of the state’s criminal law states that any person who, with intent to extort or gain anything from any person; accuses or threatens to accuse any person of committing any felony or misdemeanour, or of offering or making any solicitation or threat to any person as an inducement to commit or permit the commission of any felony or misdemeanour is guilty of a felony, and liable to imprisonment for three years.

It was learnt that the musician got into trouble after Merrybet Gold Limited wrote a petition to the police accusing the musician of threats and cyberbullying.

In a petition titled, ‘Petition against Oyindamola Johnson Emmanuel aka Dammy Krane for false and libellous statement against Merrybet Gold Limited and signed by its lawyer, Nwabueze Anachebe, the betting firm said the musician perpetrated cyberbullying and criminal defamation.

The musician was said to have attended a game show sponsored by the betting company but lost.

However, Dammy Krane was said to have demanded some money for appearing on the show but the firm disagreed, insisting that the sum is only given to winners.

The embittered musician subsequently went on the radio where he accused the betting firm of owing him money and breaching a contractual agreement.

Toyin Abraham and Liz Anjorin go for each other's jugular following reports that Liz was 'held' for drugs in Saudi Arabia

Toyin Abraham and Liz Anjorin go for each other

There's a bit of drama in the Yoruba movie industry at the moment and here's how it started.

An Instagram blog reported that Nollywood actress, Liz Anjorin was 'held and searched for drug peddling' during her recent hajj trip to Saudi Arabia. The report went on to say the actress was 'teary all through her encounter with the security agents at the airport'.

In her response to the story, Liz Anjorin said her investigations revealed that her colleague, Toyin Abhram 'leaked' the story to blogs and she came for her guns blazing.

Toyin Abraham has also responded to her with a strongly worded statement saying, 'I have instructed my lawyers to take up this matter and she will be hearing from them by Monday'.

Read their exchange below....

The Story...

Mama please clear the Air how you were Held for Drug peddling search and was Teary all through, I know you won't tell your gullible fans about that, but if na another thing una go don shake IG.
This is a Gossip Blog and we write stories be it Bad or Good, so deal with that,Iya Adini tell your Fans o,we are waiting and stop dragging who is not.

Liz Anjorin's reaction...

Musa hold my cloth ...Na jeje I dey hustle do my business.
Sugbon evil is part of life and fighting is part of winning evil. Who remember that actor attached to ?? That was deported from America?? Who remember the cross....That was deported from London?? Haaaaa... mi o mon nkankan ..until gistlover comment section was flooded with so much jubilation from them ke?? Egbami ke ?? .
Toyin Abraham and Liz Anjorin go for each other

Weekend oloyin re oo. Too much question will force me to release evidence fa..na wisdom they help me keep some facts ...that was why I dey work so hard like machine because things about life is bigger than life gangan
.
You need to stay more calm for evidence before you get blocked ..if I block you before you see evidence ..e go pain you , because you need to know HUMAN

Toyin Abraham fires back....

It has come as a rude shock that some upstarts masquerading as Nollywood actors keep dragging my name into unnecessary drama whenever they are trolled online. I've had my own share of online trolling but not for once did I drag the names of any actor or celebrities into the fray even when we don't have cordial relationships.
Today, an actress directly mentioned my name as the owner or informant of an Instagram blog, and libeled my person and reputation by implying I planted or published some negative news about her.

Why she mentioned my name, I can't say. What she's trying to achieve, I can't fathom. Long ago, I bade bye bye to unnecessary drama and petty online/offline squabbles and so I won't descend to her gutter level.
Her so-called "evidence" of my involvement was a comment I left on the page of a fan she suspected is behind the story. How I became connected to the story beats me. This level of cluelessness is mind-boggling.
For the umpteenth time, stop holding me responsible for the actions or inactions of other people as it concerns you. Whether they are my fans or not, I don't regulate or determine their behaviour or conduct. Nobody holds Beyonce responsible for what her teeming fans, "Beyhives" do.
Anyways, I have instructed my lawyers to take up this matter and she will be hearing from them by Monday. It's time to put a stop to online bullying and bad behaviour in line with the rule of law.

Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira plan TV adaptation of Chimamanda's 'Americanah' for HBO Max

Image: Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira

Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira's planned adaptation of the novel "Americanah" has received a straight-to-series order at HBO Max, Variety has learned.
HBO Max has given the limited series a 10-episode order. Nyong'o will star in the series, with Gurira writing the pilot and serving as showrunner.
Based on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's bestselling novel, "Americanah" tells the story of Ifemelu (Nyong'o), a young, beautiful, self-assured woman raised in Nigeria, who as a teenager falls in love with her classmate Obinze. Living in a military-ruled country, they each depart for the west, with Ifemelu heading for America, where, despite her academic success, she is forced to grapple for the first time with what it means to be black. Quiet, thoughtful Obinze had hoped to join her, but with post-9/11 America closed to him, he instead plunges into a dangerous undocumented life in London.

'Americanah' has been a passion project for me since I read Chimamanda's beautiful novel in 2013," Nyong'o said. "It's a tale that is simultaneously timely and timeless. HBO Max is the perfect partner to bring this profound and celebrated story to life, and I'm thrilled that Danai will bring to the project her intelligence, wit, and understanding of the stories and the worlds of 'Americanah.'"
Gurira and Nyong'o will both executive produce, with Nyong'o producing under her Eba Productions banner. Plan B Entertainment will also produce, with Andrea Calderwood of Potboiler Television, Didi Rea and Danielle Del of D2 Productions, and Nancy Won executive producing as well.
"Through 'Americanah,' Chimamanda brought the African female voice into mainstream consciousness in an unprecedented way," Gurira said. "It is intellectually incisive, indicting, yet full of humor, and riddled with humanity. She makes unheard voices familiar, universal and yet palpably specific. I am honored to bring her incredible novel to life on the screen. I'm thrilled to collaborate once again with Lupita who brings her astounding ability as a performer and producer shepherding this project, along with HBO MAX's unbridled enthusiasm to bring this groundbreaking narrative to the TV audience."
Nyong'o had previously planned to adapt the novel into a film in which she would star alongside David Oyelowo. She revealed last year that the plans had changed to adapt it into a series instead.
